Don’t Reinvent Any Wheels
Because data warehouses (DWs), Business Intelligence (BI), analytical applications, and so on mean different things to different people, it’s important to set the frame of reference used in this book. Bill Inmon’s widely accepted definition of a data warehouse is as follows:
A data warehouse is a subject-oriented, integrated, time-variant, and non-volatile collection of data in support of management’s decision-making process.
