One of my computer science professors in college posed the following question to us, his students:
"Do you think it’s better to: a) Spend 5 hours solving a problem or b) Spend 4 ½ hours creating a tool to solve a problem and the other ½ hour using the tool to solve the problem? If you didn’t answer b), just walk out right now."
A little harsh maybe, but there’s wisdom in those words. Why re-invent the wheel over and over again when OracleAS Portal gives you the tools to design things once, and then use them over and over again? This cuts down on design time and makes the process of changing your OracleAS Portal page design a trivial one.
