Summary

In this chapter, we discussed the high available solutions offered for Oracle 11g that complement Oracle RAC clustered environments. We provided a conceptual overview of the following Maximum Available Architecture (MAA) solutions:

  • Streams replication
  • Standby databases (Data Guard)
  • New features in Oracle 11g R2 for Streams and Data Guard

In addition, we provided a discussion of how to best leverage Streams and Data Guard with the help of new and existing RAC clustered environments, along with tips and best practices to enhance performance and scalability for RAC with Data Guard and Streams. Furthermore, we provided an overview on the latest features available in 11g R2 for Data Guard and Streams.
