Summary

In this chapter, we discussed various real-world business scenarios covering Oracle 11g R1 and R2 such as scaling an existing cluster vertically by adding new nodes, removing nodes, adding instances to an existing RAC database to optimize the workload, and preventing any single point of failure situations. We also looked at converting a standalone database to an RAC database using the rconfig tool and also demonstrated how to move resources such as databases and instances from one node to another. This chapter should have provided you with useful scenarios in which to incorporate an RAC database.

In the next chapter, we will discuss how to manage the E-Business Suite (EBS) on an RAC environment.
