Two weeks later, late one evening, Joe sits in his apartment assessing what he has learned from his first coaching session and the Strengthscope360™ profile, which he has just received.

Joe's Strengths Wheel

According to his Strengthscope360™ feedback profile, his top strengths, described as his “Significant 7”, are:

  1. Critical Thinking
  2. Decisiveness
  3. Initiative
  4. Leading
  5. Results Focus
  6. Common Sense
  7. Strategic Mindedness.

Of these seven, several seem a bit vague; he will ask Richard about these at their next session, he decides. Critical Thinking, Decisiveness, Leading and Results Focus, however, speak to him loud and clear.

Initiative?” he ponders. “Isn't initiative about ideas? I really wouldn't describe myself as an ideas person, but perhaps I'm going to need to be if I'm going to lead this team out of the mire we're in currently.”

Reading further into his report, Joe learns a new definition of initiative: “taking independent action to make things happen and achieve goals”.
