It is important that you understand the theory behind SONET and TDM before jumping into provisioning mode. This chapter discusses the provisioning of the MSPP, SONET UPSR and BLSR, and TDM circuits. Prior to the provisioning of TDM circuits, one must perform the basic node provisioning for the SONET infrastructure. This chapter uses the ONS 15454 as an example because it exemplifies most of the SONET provisioning aspects. The ONS 15454 is also the most deployed MSPP device in the metro edge and core.
