9.6. Summary
In this chapter, we reviewed routing protocols used in different types of networks. Specifically, we covered the evolution of routing in the telephone network, described intradomain and interdomain IP routing protocols, and briefly discussed ATM P-NNI routing. This background information is necessary to understand the topics covered in the following chapters on intradomain and interdomain routing in optical networks.
