The above descriptions were presented in general terms. In order to understand the likely load on TP systems and the volume of traffic involved in this application area, knowledge of typical transaction sizes and the rates at which they are invoked is needed. If one is to design a TP system it is essential to know these values for the application areas it is intended to serve.
