Validating a New Procedure

Part of the NNM administrator’s job is to teach users how to troubleshoot and document problems. Sometimes a keen user will develop a new technique that uses NNM in such a creative way that it reaches the status of a best practice. Before you incorporate the new procedure into the documentation, you should validate it.

Does the new procedure work on all devices or just a subclass of devices? Will these devices always be present on the NNM map? How can these devices be found quickly on the map? Is there a device firmware or operating system revision requirement? Does the procedure depend on a specific version of NNM? Can all users take advantage of the procedure? Can the procedure be enhanced with a new custom menu? ...
