Chapter 11. OpenStreetMap's Future

OpenStreetMap has achieved a great deal in a very short time, but there's still more to do. We'll explain some of the changes being developed by the coders and mappers working on OSM, and how they'll affect users of the data.

Obviously, the most important task for the project is to increase the quantity and accuracy of the data, but there are changes to the tools used that can make that process easier. There are currently no plans to make large changes to the OpenStreetMap data model or API, and changes to the main editing applications continue at a steady rate.
