Summary

In this chapter, we saw why cloud storage is a new way of building storage systems that cuts the total cost of ownership significantly. It uses a technology called object storage. A high-quality and open source object storage software stack to consider is OpenStack Swift. OpenStack Swift uses a dramatically different architecture from traditional enterprise storage systems by using a distributed architecture on commodity servers.
