About the Contributors

Barthold Lichtenbelt received his master’s degree in electrical engineering in 1994 from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. From 1994 to 1998, he worked on volume rendering techniques at Hewlett-Packard Company, first at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California, and later at Hewlett-Packard’s graphics software lab in Fort Collins, Colorado. During that time, he coauthored the book, Introduction to Volume Rendering, and wrote several papers on the subject. He was awarded four patents in the field of volume rendering.
