Expecting the Unexpected

6.1 Introduction

You’ll recall that in the introduction, I said that my target readership is familiar with either Linux application programming or embedded development. This chapter is mainly aimed at the former category of reader; most embedded developers should be familiar with most of the material in here.

In this chapter, I’ll describe a little of the engineering behind fault detection and mitigation. More specifically, I’ll talk a bit about the fault detection and failsafe mechanisms I have put in E-2.
