Blogging by nature has no set rules. Blog content emerged as an alternative to the traditional media sources online. The tone of most blogs is “personal conversation,” rather than official commentary. So how does one go about imposing etiquette guidelines on a community that has thumbed its nose at tradition from the start?

In The Weblog Handbook: Practical Advice on Creating and Maintaining Your Blog (Perseus Publishing, 2002), author Rebecca Blood states, “In general, etiquette in the weblog world is based on the same principals as it is in the physical world. Common sense and courtesy rule the day.”
