There are many different blogging tools. Some are geared toward the novice, and others are designed for the serious blogster.
Movable Type
Movable Type is a little more demanding. It is not a hosting service, nor is it a menu-driven, novice program. The core requirements are: an account on a Web server that allows you to run CGI (Common Gateway Interface) scripts; Perl (version 5.004_04 or greater on the Web server); an FTP program to upload the necessary files to your server; JavaScript and cookies enabled on your browser; and support for the DB-File Perl module or MySQL and DBD::mysql.
