Generating Ideas and Finding Experts

If we break the newsgathering process into its most fundamental elements, we see three parts to the process: a journalist gets an idea, finds information to develop that idea (via interviews, online research, and documents to name a few of the sources), and then writes the story. The newsgathering process is more sophisticated than this simplistic view, but for the moment we will use it to kick-start the process of finding ideas.
