Ciao.com is a community that has made quality a part of its strategy. They have taken a long-term approach to building a solid community.

It is interesting to look at Ciao’s decision to add price comparison to what was originally an opinion portal. Price comparison made the website more profitable but, importantly, it was also a service that met an existing user need and a natural extension of the way people were already using the Ciao website.

Ciao has also recognized two different uses of the website and accommodated these with two slightly different interfaces, using login to distinguish users who are interested in the community from users who may only want to see product reviews and price information.
