Getting started in flash photography isn’t easy. Along with familiar metrics like aperture, ISO, and shutter speed, using flash introduces additional factors into the equation, such as flash power, flash-to-subject distance, angles of incidence, and your choice of light modifiers. The following three chapters are intended to give you a head start and make your first steps into the wonderful world of flash easier than they were for me when I started out many years ago.
