Chapter 3

Marine Petroleum (Gas) Engineering and Equipment

Abstract

Offshore oil (gas) field development refers to oil and gas recovery, whereas offshore oil (gas) production engineering refers to a defined system consisting of specific technologies and management approaches that are able to efficiently and effectively extract undersea oil and gas. In this chapter, we will look at the main aspects, key equipment, and facilities of such as system. In order to highlight the unique characteristics of marine oil and gas fields, some technologies and equipment that are the same as those for onshore oil and gas fields are not repeated here.
