identity column

A column that provides a way for DB2 to automatically generate a numeric value for each row. The generated values are unique if cycling is not used. Identity columns are defined with the AS IDENTITY clause. Defining a unique index that contains only the identity column ensures uniqueness of values. A table can have no more than one identity column.
