Coordination of updates

This section introduces the variety of products that DB2 works with to coordinate updates across a distributed transaction. It also explains how DB2 coordinates updates at servers that support different types of connections.

DB2 transaction manager support

DB2 supports a wide range of transaction manager products to coordinate updates across a distributed transaction. A distributed transaction typically involves multiple recoverable resources, such as DB2 tables, MQSeries® messages, and IMS databases.

Application environments that use DB2 Connect to access DB2 remotely can use the following transaction manager products:

  • WebSphere Application Server

  • CICS

  • IBM TXSeries® (CICS and Encina®)

  • WebSphere MQ

  • Microsoft Transaction Server ...
