Web Components Overview

There are four Office Web components. Three of them display on-screen, in a Web browser, and let the user interact with data. The fourth works behind the scenes. These components are as follows:

  • PivotTable permits users to work with data from a database table or a worksheet. The data can be sorted, grouped, filtered, or outlined as required.

  • Chart displays charts, or graphs, of data. The data can originate in a database table, a worksheet, or a PivotTable.

  • Spreadsheet provides a simple worksheet interface with recalculation and a function library.

  • DataSource serves as a “behind the scenes” interface between a Web page (or controls on the page) and a data source.
