Securing Databases

Database security is a complex topic, but it can be broken down into two broad areas. One area involves the security of the data. Many databases contain sensitive information, and in today's world of networked computers, it is essential to protect such data against unauthorized snooping and modification. Securing databases against unauthorized access involves techniques such as establishing user-level security and database encryption, topics that are beyond the scope of this book.
