5.4. Using Outlook to Work Offline with Content

You can work on documents in a document library by connecting the SharePoint library to Outlook as described previously for contacts and tasks. With one additional step, you can check the document out from within SharePoint to protect your changes.

Open the library that contains the document you want to work on. If your document is in a folder within the library, open the folders until you see the document list containing the document you want.

From within the document library, right-click the documents you want to work with offline and check them out. You do not have to check out every document in the library, just the ones you plan on working with offline. This allows other users to work with ...
