9.7. Building Data Connections for Forms

In the first part of this chapter, you saw how to create a basic form that generates XML data files when you submit the form's data. But you can also create an InfoPath form that uses SQL or Access tables as both the source and the destination for data from a form. To do that, you need to create a data connection from the form to the database. Actually, you need two connections, one to select data from the database, and a second to update the database. This section explores the steps needed to created a data connection to a SQL Server database, which you will then use in the next section to build a form to view and update data from one of the tables in that database.
