Using Range Names in Formulas and Functions

Range names can be used in both your formulas and functions to reference cell ranges. Because range names are often descriptive in terms of the cell or cell range defined by the name, range names provide you with a more meaningful way (in terms of your own thought process) to specify the arguments in a formula or function.

Using range names for cells that provide constants or other arguments for a formula or function can also negate the need to use absolute referencing in the formula or function.
