Building a Form with Form Controls

You can build online forms using form fields, also referred to as form controls. The control is a placeholder for the text that is input by the user of the form. Form controls can consist of text fields, check boxes, or drop-down lists. Your form controls can also include help text, which is useful in getting the appropriate type of response for a particular field on the form.

The various form fields or controls are accessed via the Developer tab of the Ribbon. This tab is not included on the Ribbon by default, so you need to enable it. Select File to go to Word’s Backstage. Then click Options.
