Sharing Documents on a Network

Coauthoring can be great, but it doesn't work for everyone. You may find it easier to have people take turns at working on your documents, so that only one person has any given document open at a particular time. To make the documents available to all the people who need to work them, you put the documents on a network drive or a SharePoint site.

The advantage to sharing documents this way is that whoever has a particular document open can work freely in it without having to worry about running into changes other authors or editors are making.

The disadvantages are that creating and editing the document tend to take longer than in coauthoring, and you may need to chase laggard authors or editors.
