Finalizing a Document

When you have finished creating, editing, and reviewing a document, you can make it final. Finalizing a document has three main parts:

  • Removing sensitive or surplus information from the document.
  • Marking the document as being final.
  • Signing the document with a digital signature to prove it hasn't been altered.

NOTE: Whether you need to make a document final depends on what the document is for. When you're creating documents for a company or organization that follows formal procedures, you'll probably need to produce a final version of a document for distributing electronically, archiving, or providing to regulators.
