Coauthoring in Real Time

The fastest way to get a document finished is usually by coauthoring it. Coauthoring means that you and your colleagues simultaneously work on the same copy of the document rather than working on the document in turn or working on separate copies.

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote all support coauthoring. Coauthoring works in a similar way in Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote, so we'll cover those three programs together here. Excel's coauthoring works differently, and we'll cover it in Chapter 11.

NOTE: To use coauthoring, you must store the document either on a SharePoint site or on Windows Live SkyDrive (which runs on SharePoint). You cannot use coauthoring with documents stored on a regular network drive. SharePoint ...
