In the interest of quicker time-to-market, it is important to be able to rapidly prototype new technologies enabling the technology transfer necessary for product development. The rapid prototyping methodology reduces the risk involved when deciding whether to implement new algorithms for a product and allows the validation of research ideas in hardware long before production commitments.
