4.8. Summary

In this chapter, you learned about database recovery in great detail. Database recovery can be performed with RMAN, user-managed, or EM methods. We discussed and demonstrated how to perform incomplete recovery using RMAN, user-managed, and EM methods. We also demonstrated recovery with control files. Incomplete recovery with RMAN is very similar to user-managed incomplete recovery. The main difference is there is CANCEL, a CHANGE-based option for only SCN with user-managed recovery. With RMAN-based recovery, there is no CHANGE-based option and there is the ability to use both SCN and redo log sequence.
