The traditional Solaris tools that identify and configure its network connectivity still work. In Solaris 11, however, you have utilities that clarify each layer’s role. They also add many new objects to the system in virtualized form. Many of these objects are virtualized instances of physical network devices and allow the experienced Solaris administrator to create (or re-create) complex network topologies all within a single physical computer, assuming it has the CPU and memory capable to support them.
