Summary

In this chapter, we've explored the important and sometimes complex subject of database recovery. We've discussed the importance of database recovery as it relates to the strategy we use for backup. We've learned how to perform recoveries from both cold and hot backups. We've explored incomplete recoveries and performed an incomplete recovery using the point-in-time recovery method. Finally, we've explored the Data Recovery Advisor and saw how it can be used to simplify recovery using both command line and Enterprise Manager. In our next chapter, we'll explore the techniques used in Oracle to migrate data, including Oracle's Data Pump tool.
