Using the Oracle Universal Installer
Installing enterprise-level server software can be significantly different than installing your favorite word processor or video game. There are many factors that must be considered—hardware platform, operating system differences, and performance, just to name a few. There are few examples of this kind of software that are simple and straightforward to install. Fortunately for us, the Oracle Database Server is one of them. In the past, Oracle was just as difficult to install as any other enterprise RDBMS, and perhaps more so. Additionally, the installation procedure was significantly different on every platform.
