CSDP Steps 1–5

As discussed in the previous chapter, ORM’s Conceptual Schema Procedure (CSDP) comprises seven main steps. In this chapter we cover the first five steps, as summarized in Table 2.1. The design of the moon-planets model in the previous chapter involved a very simple application of CSDP Steps 1, 2, 4 and 5. In that model all the fact types were asserted, binary fact types, the entity types all had a simple reference scheme, and the only constraints were simple uniqueness constraints and simple mandatory role constraints.
