18.1 INTRODUCTION
Exceptions are unwanted events. In a way they are errors. The concept of exception and exception handling is added recently in C++. Hence, older compilers do not support it. Hence, programs in this chapter do not get compiled with Turbo C++ 3.0 system. These programs are tested with GNU-g++ compiler. As exceptions are sort of errors, it is worth reviewing how programmers were tackling various errors before exceptions were introduced.
