For better or worse, when post-production begins work, most of the primary footage is already in the can. Post-production staff is expected to be particularly clever in figuring out how to pull all the elements together for the final release print. Post-production covers a broad range of potential jobs, but unlike production, most of the jobs occur while sitting at a desk.

The post-production department generally has the following responsibilities:
