Grips are responsible for all the set equipment not administered by the electricians. Gripping requires the most manual labor of any position on the set. Grip equipment include flags, stands, dollies and dolly tracks, cranes, jib arms, ladders, rigs, sandbags, clamps, and so on. The start of an average day as a grip can include transporting dozens of heavy sandbags from the truck to location.
