Crystallizers: CFDPBE modeling

Abstract

Studies of crystallization and crystallizers cover a vast range of aspects, thus this chapter focuses particularly on the modeling of stirred crystallizers, especially with reactive crystallization processes. The general population balance equation (PBE) and commonly used numerical methods such as the standard method of moments, the quadrature method of moments (QMOM), and the multi-class method (MCM) are described in detail, together with their strong and weak points.
