Chapter 3

Multiphase stirred reactors

Abstract

Much effort has been devoted to numerical resolution of the hydrodynamics in multiphase stirred reactors. The EulerianEulerian model (or multi-fluid model) is the dominant approach and has been coupled with different turbulence models (such as the k symbol model, Reynolds stress model, explicit algebraic stress model, and large eddy simulation) to aid the design and scale-up of multiphase stirred tanks, such as gasliquid, liquidliquid, solidliquid, gasliquidsolid, liquidliquidsolid, gasliquidliquid, and liquidliquidliquid systems. The work on the transport phenomena and interactions related ...
