Introduction

‘Nonlinear’ is a buzzword for every broadcaster and facility house worldwide. Systems range from the humble to the exotic, but all of these systems exhibit similar characteristics – they have areas where they excel and they also have common limitations.

This manual highlights those areas where nonlinear excels but at the same time introduces readers to its limitations. These limitations should be seen not so much as being a problem but as issues that need to be managed.
