Font Utilities

To find and use the special characters, you’ll need an extra little font utility. On a PC, use the Character Map that you find in your Start menu.

On a Mac, use the Character Palette or the Keyboard Viewer: Open System Preferences, choose “International,” click the “Input Menu” tab, check “Character Palette” and “Keyboard Viewer.” Also check the box at the bottom, “Show input menu in menu bar.” Now in your menu bar you’ll see an American flag; from that menu you can choose either of these utilities.

In InDesign on a Mac or a PC, use the Glyphs palette found in the Type menu, shown on the following page.
