Check Before you Buy

Not all OpenType fonts include extra characters! Many have just had a facelift and are now in the OpenType format, but the great things you see in this chapter are not included. The Adobe OpenType fonts that are feature-rich have the word “Pro” in their names. When buying a font, look for features such as “automatic characters substitution” or “opticals.” On a web site like Veer.com, the specs clearly tell you what you can expect in any OpenType font. Veer also provides PDFS that explain more about OpenType and how to use it; you can download the PDF from any page that displays an OpenType font.
