To start Docker for Windows or Mac is very simple. You simply find and double-click on the application icon. It launches as would any other native application. When started, it manages a virtual machine (not VirtualBox) within which is a Linux instance running the Docker Engine. On macOS, a menu bar icon shows up with which you control Docker.app, and on Windows, an icon is available in the system tray.
There are settings available so that Docker automatically launches every time you start your laptop.
