An Odd Sense

ONE OF THE unwritten rules of any autism story is that it must begin with a perfect birth, to serve in dramatic contrast to the downfall that is coming. The baby is beautiful, the parents are full of joy and hope, and the nurses sprout wings and halos as the idyllic music swells over the hospital intercom.
