Chapter 10. Landscape and Nature

This type of photography is done outdoors and can be very enjoyable. Simply by going out on a hike or wandering around in the local park you can come across some very interesting subjects. The world of nature photography is filled with things such as birds, plants, flowers, rock formations, and almost any type of flora and fauna you can imagine. The best part is you don't necessarily need to trek off into the far reaches of the world; you can find great shots right in your own back yard. One of the other nice things about this type of photography is that you don't necessarily need a lot of specialized lenses or equipment; almost any lens will do.

Landscape

With landscape photography, the intent is to represent a specific scene from a certain viewpoint. For the most part, animals and people aren't included in the composition so the focus is solely on the view.

Landscape photography can incorporate any type of environment — desert scenes, mountains, lakes, forests, skylines, or just about any terrain. You can take landscape photos just about anywhere, and one nice thing about them is that you can return to the same spot, even as little as a couple of hours later, and the scene will look different according to the position of the sun and the quality of the light.
