Richard Gray is a modernist in his fashion aesthetic but hints at the ancestry of illustrators such as Alastair (Baron Hans Henning Voigt), Ernst Dryden and even Erté. His illustrations often carry an erotic charge and this is apparent in his recent illustrations of London men – pictures that capture both the sexual and dandy qualities of their subjects in equal measure.
