Glossary of Terms
The following terms are commonly used in the training profession and will be helpful in preparing you for your training assignment.
- Facilitation
—The process by which the trainer guides group discussion
- Icebreaker/opening activity
—An activity used at the beginning of a program to lessen participant anxiety
- Lecturette
—Prepared background material delivered verbally to the group
- Program
—Term used to describe the interactive, experiential learning process; synonymous with “workshop”
