Because the relationship between the new employee and the supervisor is so important, the supervisor should make every effort to help the employee become comfortable in his or her new environment. The supervisor’s personal involvement (including communication, preparation, and planning) is critical. This checklist suggests actions the supervisor should take even before the employee’s first day on the job.
